6,050 New Covid-19 Cases; 13% Higher Than Yesterday

NEW DELHI: According to data from the health ministry, India reported 6,050 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, a 13% increase from the 5,335 infections reported the day before. There were 28,303 active cases in total. 

India recorded 14 additional fatalities brought on by the infectious illness, according to data from the health ministry. 5,30,943 individuals have died as a result of COVID-19. Data released by the government on Friday showed that 4,41,85,858 persons had been discharged. 

2,334 people received vaccines in the most recent 24 hours. Since the nationwide immunisation programme got underway on January 16, 2021, a total of 2,20,66,20,700 vaccinations have been administered. 

On Thursday, Maharashtra was among the states to report 803 brand-new COVID-19 instances, an increase of 234 from Wednesday's total. The infectious virus claimed the lives of three more victims. 

According to the bulletin, Mumbai recorded 216 cases and one fatality related to the respiratory ailment. The other two coronavirus-related fatalities in the state were attributed to Thane city and Jalna district, according to the state health department. 

On the other side, according to data made public by the Delhi government, the national capital saw 606 brand-new instances of COVID-19, the largest number since last August. One more COVID-positive person died in the city, according to the health bulletin. However, it acknowledged that the "Covid finding was accidental." On August 26, there were 620 instances in the nation's capital.

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in India, with daily new infections ranging from 2,994 on April 1 to 3,824 on April 2 to 3,641 on April 3 to 3038 on April 4.
